First Art - Shine a Light photography
First Art contacted us to document the Shine a Light project with documentary style photography over two days. In 2021 First Art launched the Shine a Light campaign across Bellamy Road (Mansfield), Clay Cross, Leamington (Ashfield) and South Normanton. They asked people to nominate those that had gone above and beyond to help their community during the coronavirus pandemic.
Working with film maker Will J Carman they created a short film designed to be a reminder of what lengths people go to for others and their community. The film was screened from a mobile video van that toured around the local areas of the people who were nominated. It was our task to follow the van over two days to document the van wherever it stopped. It was very much a case of reacting to what we saw at each location and trying to capture photo’s of people engaging with the video whilst under social distancing guidelines.
It was great fun to photograph the project and react to wherever the van managed to situate itself. It was also locally to work with First Art fir the first time and we are looking forward to helping document future projects with them.
