ASSIST - video evaluation

Nottinghamshire County Council contacted us just before the very first COVID-19 lockdown to create a short film about their ASSIST project. The original plan was to film the work taking place with young people and youth workers and create a short promotional video. Then the pandemic came into play and we were all forced to pause the project.

Almost a year later the team at Nottinghamshire council got back in touch and were keen to film a different video that evaluated the project overall. The challenge was how to film easily during the lockdown. We decided that the content was more important than the visual look of the video and we conducted interviews over videos calls and captured the footage. This was mixed with the filming of 2 key team members in a controlled environment with social distancing in place.

It was a pleasure to work with the team and whilst it would have been better to film in person it just shows that the content is what’s important at the end of the day. The ASSIST project is now coming to an end and so the video needed producing quickly. For us as film a video production company, the challenge was to find a way of meeting the brief which changed dramatically from the start point and also to make sure everyone involved felt safe during the filming process.
