Luminarium - aerial photos
Luminarium, Mansfield
The Luminarium project in Mansfield was a large-scale public art installation that I helped set up and staff as part of a wider delivery team. Created by Architects of Air, the Luminarium is a world-renowned inflatable artwork that transforms daylight into an immersive environment of colour, form and movement.
My involvement focused on documenting the installation through aerial photography, capturing the scale and impact of the Luminarium within the surrounding landscape. Photographing such a large, temporary structure required careful planning and adaptability, particularly given the challenging weather conditions experienced during the installation period. Working safely and collaboratively, I captured images that reflected both the artwork itself and its relationship with the public space.
Alongside the photography, I also supported the day-to-day running of the event, including helping manage outdoor ticket sales and assisting visitors as they arrived on site. Being part of a project of this scale provided valuable experience working within a large, multidisciplinary team, supporting both the technical setup and front-of-house delivery of a major outdoor cultural event.
The installation welcomed thousands of visitors and demonstrated how ambitious, international artworks can be successfully delivered in public spaces through teamwork, resilience and strong coordination, even in demanding weather conditions.
