Theatre Electric Trial
Theatre Electric comes to Mansfield Palace Theatre
As part of the ongoing digital development work at Mansfield Palace Theatre, we collaborated with immersive arts studio MBD to bring Theatre Electric to the theatre during the Gaia installation week.
Theatre Electric is a shared virtual reality theatre experience developed by MBD, designed for up to six participants to explore a virtual environment together. Audiences work collaboratively through the story, solving simple puzzles as they progress through a thought-provoking narrative.
The experience attracted audiences across a wide age range and was very much enjoyed by everyone who took part, highlighting the appeal of shared immersive experiences beyond traditional theatre formats. The project was focused on bringing new and engaging immersive digital experiences to Mansfield, testing how VR can create accessible, collective moments of storytelling and play within a theatre setting.
